For Dylan fans February 17, 2010 D. J. MCDONALD If you're a Dylan fan, buy it. If not, take a gamble. It put a smile on my wife's face, who is as sick of Bob Dylan as any spouse can be.
Way beyond good February 16, 2010 Clif (Boston, MA USA) Dylan's skill, his spirit, his wisdom and humor are here, in both selection and arrangement of the music. Dylan's raspy magic is here, blending the joy and the mystery of Christmas. Embrace those who enjoy this collection; they get it. Have compassion for those who don't.
A must buy !! February 14, 2010 Roger Kramer (Sunny San Diego) I love this album. It has an old school charm that doesn't wear off.
The music production is very good. Dylan's raspy voice on top of it
gives it a certain homespun charm, that is missing in many of the
overproduced Christmas Albums from today's artists.
One from Dylan's heart. February 13, 2010 gdash Many of the people who at first hated this have changed their minds. I loved it
from its opening notes, and I bet it outlasts Together Through Life (and Modern Times?).
Read Peter Doggett's fond, nuanced defence, "Sweet and Sour Turkey".
Christmas In the Heart is not awful, insipid (?), or drek (sic), to choose some of the
adjectives in the reviews; his voice is not "inappropriate" (how I hate that
school marm word of the 2000s), and it is not a joke. It is an odd, quite beautiful,
often funny, joyous addition to the Dylan catalogue. While his voice may prevent it from
being universally embraced, I do think it will join the canon of essential Christmas
records.
For Dylan fanatics February 10, 2010 Susan (Castle Rock, CO United States) I am a self-professed Dylan fanatic. I enjoyed the tongue in cheek but respectful take on the holidays. Not for everyone but it rounded out my holiday CD collection.
